What is Bloomfield Little League?
The Bloomfield Little League is an in-town baseball league for kids age 5-13. Our league merged with Glen Ridge a few years ago. Teams will be composed of kids living in both towns and will play each other over the course of a few months. Bloomfield Little League sponsors travel teams in the Summer and Fall through the use of our fields and provides some equipment. In order to be eligible to participate on these travel teams through Bloomfield Little League, the player must participate in the 2024 Spring little league season. We will be sending more details about a tryout for these teams at a later date.

Who is eligible to play?
Any child born after September 1,2010 and before August 31, 2019 and living or going to school in Bloomfield or Glen Ridge. Proof of residence or school attendance is required.

Can I request a specific coach, team or for my child to play with a friend?
- For 5-8u, yes, this year we have included this on the registration form. Please fill this in when completing registration as we can’t add it after the fact.
- 9-13u will have a tryout and be drafted by a coach. Once teams are established, no trades are permitted.
Can we play with a different age group?
No, we strictly follow the little league age chart and children must play in their age group.
When are practices and games?
What is the general objective for each age group?
- 5u: tee-ball and basic fundamentals of baseball – how to hold a bat, swing, run to first, catch and throw
- 6u: tee-ball with introduction to coach toss
- 7u: coach pitch
- 8u: kid pitch – if the child pitcher throws 4 balls, the coach finishes the batter until a hit or strike out
- 9/10u: full kid pitch with limited stealing of bases
- 11/12u: full kid pitch with unlimited stealing of bases
When will I be notified from my child's coach about their team placement?
Coaches will get their team assignments by March 10, 2024. If you have not heard from a coach, please reach out to us here on Facebook or at littleleaguevolunteer@gmail.com.
What equipment does the league supply and what do I need to get my child?
The league supplies the coach a first aid kit, balls, a couple of team bats and helmets. Your child will need their own glove.
Bloomfield Little League also supplies a team shirt and hat for the 5-8u teams and full uniform for 9-13u.
If your child prefers to use their own bat, it MUST BE a USA Baseball bat. If it doesn’t have a USA Baseball sticker on the bat, it is not allowed.
Optional gear can be purchased at Lefty's or Dick's:
- Helmet - recommended for sanitary purposes
- Heart Guard
- Athletic cup - mandatory for catchers
- Face protector
- Arm sleeve
